Newbury ¾ Cue with Proline shaft

Made of Ebony and high-grade North American Maple and Walnut, the Newbury cue ¾ jointed cue is made by Peradon in England and has a length of 58 inches. This cue has a patented ‘pro-line’ shaft, which is rigid and has great playing characteristics. It has evenly spaced chevrons, as well as uniform lines that give players a sighting advantage because it has a shaft grain that also serves as a visual tool. Patented Peradon technology is used to cut the maple shaft timber so that tension is released in the timber before it is laminated using walnut inlays so that the shaft ends up with minimal deflection.

The pro-line shaft is more resistant to warping compared to other shafts and another key feature is that it requires just about the same amount of care as other high-quality cues. Before the Ebony timber is spliced by hand, to the cue the shaft is first checked for straightness and strength. If it is not strong or straight enough, it will not make it further to production. The cue is then shaped to result in the characteristic four round point design that is typical of cues spliced by hand.

Turning the cue over a certain period of time until the desired shape is achieved reduces stress to the timbers. The cue is then sanded and finished to make it smoother. Joint problems are also avoided by having each of the sections of the joint turned using one piece of solid brass. It is then fitted with precision 16 inches from the butt end giving the shaft a total length of 42 inches. The final embellishment of the craft is the name disc with the words Peradon Newbury. Extensions are optional and sold separately and can be fitted easily into the ¾ joint or the butt end joint.
